The enemy of good

I'm slowly coming around to the realization that if I'm ever going to accomplish anything around here, I just need to have done with it. Not pick away indefinitely, not spend 5 minutes writing a quick blog post and then edit it for 30, just as a completely random example.

I've got several new patterns out in the last month and another few coming quickly down the pipeline, so posts about those are imminent. In the meantime, I leave you with a visual clue about my bloggy negligence...

and yes, this is over a month old.

burying the lead

So I tinkered with the featherweight yet again. I can wear it sort of comfortably now, though the band still does some weird things. Thought I'd successfully wrangled it over a year ago with this little solution, but it was less than ideal. The bands were unattractively distorted when I tried to wear it, and it wanted to ride up in front and (still) slide off my shoulders. It was better - not physically falling off - but still not getting any wear.

New solution: hook and eye closures

I-cord picked out; button removed; hook and eye closures carefully installed. At this rate I'm going to run through my little 5g ball of leftovers pretty soon.

Anyway, you may have noticed from the photos that a steady diet of beer and pretzels appears to be taking its toll. But seriously folks, that's a baby in there. I'm due in late November. We're pretty darn excited.

by-products

When I frogged my Academia Vest, most of the yarn got a bath and went on to greener (better fitting) pastures.  Some of it, however, was hopelessly kinked, discolored, and in bits too short to bother futzing around with.  The stranded work produced some unusually interesting Ramen, with kinks at regular intervals depending on the row of colorwork it had come from.  We happened to also have some empty picture frames laying forlornly about the apartment, waiting to be filled with some weird wall art and, well, this happened:

See? ...It's a jellyfish.

The body is made of medium-weight cardstock inexpertly embroidered with a darning needle.  I played around with the tentacles until I was happy with their arrangement, then sandwiched the whole thing together and secured the frame before it could slide out of place.
